TAMIYA 58714 1:10 RC VW Golf II GTI 16V Rally MF-01X - Remote Control Car, Model Building Kit, Unassembled

The 1980's was a decade in which the hot hatch took the automotive world by storm! One of the many automakers that popularized the hatchback was Volkswagen, and their MK2 GTI 16V was a favorite among car enthusiasts. Tamiya has faithfully recreated the MK2 GTI as a rally race car, as seen in A7 class competition.

Based on the MF-01 chassis, the model is at home on both asphalt and flat dirt surfaces. The MF-01X is a compact 4WD chassis built around a tough monocoque frame with integrated gearboxes, providing a thrilling driving experience no matter the terrain. Powered by a rear-mounted motor, the rear wheels are gear-driven, with a propeller shaft delivering power to the front. Both front and rear gearboxes feature differential gears.

The battery pack's central placement in the chassis ensures excellent balance, while the 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension utilizes friction dampers. This 1/10 scale R/C assembly kit measures 397mm in length, 170mm in width, and 142mm in height, with a wheelbase of 239mm in the L-size specification.

The lightweight polycarbonate body faithfully recreates the MK2 GTI, with separately molded plastic components for the light cases, bumper, and side mirrors. The polycarbonate light cases are compatible with separately sold 5mm LEDs, and stickers are included to add further detail to the body.

A host of Hop-Up Option parts are available to tune the MF-01X chassis, and the model includes a 540 Torque Tuned motor and ESC. To complete the build, users will need a 2-channel radio, steering servo, 7.2volt battery with compatible charger, and Tamiya PS paint.

The MF-01X chassis is versatile, at home on both on-road and flat dirt surfaces, thanks to its 4-wheel double wishbone suspension. This compact 4WD model offers an engaging and thrilling driving experience, whether tackling asphalt or flat dirt terrain.
