The Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32), released in 1989, was developed as a base machine for group-a races. This high-performance sports car was equipped with a powerful 2.6L, 6-cylinder, twin-turbo engine and a 4WD system, taking full advantage of its impressive capabilities.
In 1995, the car was designated as the R33, followed by the R34 in 1999. Over the years, Nissan continued to evolve the Skyline GT-R, introducing various special editions and upgrades to enhance its performance and appeal.
One such special edition feature is the metallic chrome-colored Nissan Skyline. This version comes with all the plastic parts molded in a chrome blue metallic shade, giving the car a unique and striking appearance.
In October 2000, the Skyline underwent further refinements, with the most notable change being the replacement of the aluminum hood with a new carbon fiber hood featuring a NACA duct. The carbon fiber pattern of the hood would stand out even when painted the same color as the car's body. Both the inner and outer surfaces of the hood were designed using RTM, a construction method that yielded smooth surfaces.
The updated Skyline, known as the V-Spec II, also incorporated the previous improvements of the V-Spec, including front and rear diffusers, 18-inch tires, Brembo brake calipers, and a 6-speed transmission.
In February 2002, Nissan released a limited-edition car called the "Nur," named after the Nürburgring circuit. This model was equipped with an N1 racing specification engine, combining the impressive specifications of both the V-Spec II and the M-Spec. Only 1,000 units of the "Nur" were produced, and they were sold out in a single day, testament to the incredible popularity of this ultimate sports car.
However, the new 2000 gas regulation forced Nissan to end production of the GT-R in August 2002. Despite this, the legacy and glory of this iconic sports car live on, captivating enthusiasts and collectors alike.
